It was a busier-than-usual week, because we were getting the r-pod ready to go camping. However, I did get some knitting done. I'm on to the sleeves! I decided to use dpns, because the circular needles I had of the right size have a rather rough connection, and I didn't want to dig through my collection to find alternatives. Dpns work.
We left yesterday (Sunday) to go to the coast. During the drive I finished the first sleeve. Pictures next week. We parked at the Three Rivers Casino. We discovered that instead of being free to park with no utilities, they now charge $20. We probably won't do that again, but the pups were glad to get out of the car and relax. It's a good thing they're allowed on the bed!
We had some unusual visitors in our backyard on Friday. These are female wild turkeys. They took flight when they saw me come out of the house. Sandy was with me, and he was very excited.
We walked every day, including a trip to the dog park on Thursday. On Saturday, I had an adventure. I dropped my phone when I was picking up Sandy's...um...poop, and didn't notice. A nice couple walking a Boston terrier spotted it, picked it up, which cause it to come to life, displaying a photo of Sandy when he was six months old. They recognized him, because they had passed us. The woman came back to me with the phone. I had been combing the areas where I had stopped to pick up after the dogs. Fortunately, Sandy got me my phone back.
Zachary's birthday was Tuesday. It was actually Easter when he was born, but this year it falls on a later date. This birthday made him a teenager. Here's a photo from a recent dance competition. Can you spot Zachary? It's sort of an easy version of "Where's Waldo."
I have a lot of difficulty responding to comments to my blog posts because of technical issues beyond my control (my lack of understanding of how things work). Message me on Facebook, Ravelry or Spoutible if you need information.
If you have a few minutes and are willing, please go to Amazon and B&N and search for More Classic Tales Retold or Our Favorite Verses: Poems from The Doll's Storybook by Peggy Stuart". Every click on the page for the book makes it more likely they will keep a good supply in their warehouse and stores. If you are outside the US, you may have a separate website for these retailers. If you have a copy of any of our books, including Emil, Mariah, Classic Tales Retold, Our Favorite Verses or More Classic Tales Retold, please leave an honest review on the websites, especially if you bought from them.

What's on my iPhone: Still listening to Jan Karon's These High, Green Hills, which is the third book in her The Mitford Years series..
What's on my sewing machine: Still waiting to do some repairs.
What's in The Doll's Storybook: In A Bigger Footprint, Part One, Jolena fears she will have to quit the ski team. Mandy talks her down from the ledge. What's my tip of the week: Here's my super-easy cole slaw recipe. I made some changed, but the original source was too much, so I cut it in half, and traditional slaw has sugar, which I avoid when I can. I added the teaspoon of maple syrup, which would be 2 teaspoons for the full recipe. It worked out great!
Where are my books: The stories in each book first appeared in the blog and they are reproduced with a few changes.
If you don't get free shipping from Amazon or B&N, buy from the BookBabyBookshop, because 50% of the price goes to St. Jude. Other booksellers pay much less, because the publisher gets a cut.
