Out of Warranty

No warranty involved in these needles and lovely yarn, but my eyes are definitely out of warranty. I haven't had much time to knit this week, mostly just in the evenings, when the light isn’t good, and I try to stay in the family room, where it’s easier to look after Rocky. The lighting is inadequate there, too. The light blue is easy enough to see, but the darker color doesn’t show the stitch definition well enough. It’s an interesting project, though, and my audiobook keeps me entertained.

Very long out of warranty is our 1982 Maytag washer. We have a leak and can’t figure out where it is, so we will be calling appliance repair this week. We will ask them to send us the oldest person they have.

Technically, our food-storage list doesn’t come with a warranty, but we decided the old list was overdue for a replacement. It tells us what’s in the cabinet over the fridge. It’s mostly stuff that would take up a bit too much space in the pantry.

It actually didn’t take much time to pull everything out, edit the list and print a new copy.

We found some places where someone had taken something out and forgotten to cross it off.

Definitely out of warranty, our old Rocky dog will be leaving us this week. Our vet is coming over Tuesday afternoon to help with our goodbye party. We had a chat on Friday with Julie, our pet psychic. She told us Rocky knew we were thinking about sending him on his way, and he is ready to go. He has been very happy with us and wants to come back to us. If he does, and if he lives as long as this time, we will be 98 and 99 when we go through this again. 🙄 he has been a great dog. His only health issues until just a few years ago were all activity-related injuries.

Also out of warranty are my hearing aids and charger. Saturday night the hearing aids didn’t charge and we’re dead Sunday morning. I tried moving the plug around until they started to charge, but then came back later, and they were off again. After a few additional attempts, I moved the charger to a different outlet. That seems to have worked. We'll see.

My computer is still on its way back to me after a warranty-covered repair. I’ve learned some tricks to writing my blog and the stories on my iPad, though, so I’m mostly doing OK without it.

For this week's cuteness, here’s our honorary granddaughter, Elsie, with our regular grandson Johan, reading together.

If you have a few minutes and are willing, please go to Amazon and B&N and search for "Classic Tales Retold: Stories from The Doll's Storybook by Peggy Stuart" in Children's. Every click on the page for the book makes it more likely they will keep a good supply in their warehouse and stores. If you are outside the US, you may have a separate website for these retailers. If you have a copy of any of our books, including Emil and Mariah, please leave an honest review on the websites, especially if you bought from them.

Where's my blog: If you want to follow my blog, go here and sign up to follow.

What's on my needles: Still the Rose City Yarn Crawl Mystery KAL, the Talvinen cardigan and the EmPower People Kerchief (hibernating).

What's in The Doll's Storybook: The latest story in #TheDollsStorybook is "Wrapping Paper," in which the dolls explain to Pauly who MLK was and why we had a day off from school to celebrate him.

What's on my iPad/iPhone: Still listening to Das Vermächtnis der Drachenreiter by Christopher Paolini, about seven hours to go.

What's in my wine glass: Gran Maestro Rosso Puglia 2019 from Italy. Excellent.

What's my tip of the week: If you have a place where you store large quantities of anything, keep a list, then cross off anything you take from it. Even if you forget to cross something off, it’s better to know some of what you have.

Where are my books: The stories in each book first appeared in the blog and they are reproduced with a few changes.
Classic Tales Retold: Stories from The Doll's Storybook is available from BookBabyBookshop and other booksellers worldwide. The stories are Little Green GreatcoatThe Boy Doll Who Cried Wolf and Lost in the Woods.
Emil: Stories from The Doll's Storybook and Mariah: Stories from The Doll's Storybook are also still available from booksellers. The link for Book Baby is hereThe three stories in Emil are Best BudsGetting What You Want, and The Boys Cook Dinner.
The three stories in Mariah are Being LittleBesties, and Distraction.
If you don't get free shipping from Amazon or B&N, buy from the BookBabyBookshop, because 50% of the price goes to St. Jude. Other booksellers pay much less.

Note: This blog post was produced on the iPad and the MacBook, using the iPhone for some photos and some photo processing. No other computer was used in any stage of composition or posting, and no Windows were opened, waited for, cleaned or broken. No animals or dolls were harmed during the production of this blog post.
